Top 10’s

While thinking through my top 10 albums of the year, I couldn’t help but be distracted by all the 10 year anniversary tours and special releases this year. So in my ADD state, I instead have put together a top 10 of 2001 because it was a hell of a year….

This is the year my music tastes totally flipped. It was the year of the last Nsync album which, if you knew me, you’d know how big of a deal this was. It also included O-Towns self-titled album and, in my opinion, the best Britney album, Britney. But 2001 is when I said good bye to my pop days and moved on. I still listen to every single one of these albums in their entirety.

In no particular order:

  1. Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
  2. Brand New - Your Favorite Weapon
  3. Dashboard Confessional - The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most
  4. Ben Folds - Rockin’ The Suburbs
  5. The Ataris - End is Forever
  6. Further Seems Forever - Moon is Down
  7. Yellowcard - One For The Kids
  8. Saves the Day - Stay What You Are
  9. Anti-Flag - Underground Network
  10. Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket

I feel like I got to so many shows anymore, I’ve become jaded, but seeing Yellowcard last night really made me feel again. I can’t remember the last show that literally gave me chills, almost brought me to tears and made me just lose myself in the music. All I could think about was the last time I saw Yellowcard. I was 18 and they were co-headlining with Something Corporate, one of my favorite tours ever. I got there super early and was front and center, crushed at the barricade.  As I watched last night up from VIP, the spot where I always thought I wanted to be, I couldn’t help but be jealous of the girl crushed against the barricade. I wanted to jump in the vicious circle pit and crowd surf to the front. Getting older sucks but that’s why I still listen to all my old favorite bands and live for these nostalgic moments that bring me such joy. So for that, I have to say thank you to Yellowcard, it was so great to feel again.

Oh and by the way, i was one of the few people actually singing this song and it is the absolute best.

Hang You Up

I have done nothing but listen to this Yellowcard album on repeat for the last few days and for the life of me I can not pick a favorite. Everything is so great and so catchy. So I’ll probably post a few from this album starting with this guy.

For this week I am throwing up one of my favorite and older Yellowcard tracks. All these studio updates and are just getting me really pumped for their new music.
